The Current funding for the project is from EEDA

EEDA, of course, does not have bottomless pockets. It has put not just finance, but commercial and administrative expertise into this edition. It has given young people the opportunity to attend their major annual conference, and to arrange interviews with some of today’s opinion formers. It has covered the cost of trying to attract new contributors and new readers from the whole of the region.

Their generosity has given The Paper the chance to show to a bigger world, perhaps, just what will be missed if a permanent, secure grounding cannot be found to enable further editions to be published.

The Paper is supported by a mixture of public and corporate funding. We do not, at this stage, sell advertising. However, the project must aim to become self-sustainable. To do this it is necessary to attract corporate and other funding to match public support.

Sponsors are asked to contribute £5,000 to support the project for a year. They support a particular Newsroom or section of the newspaper. There are seven sections to choose from: Current Affairs, Culture, Lifestyle, Sports, Features, Work & Careers and Learning.

In return they get a Banner in their section of all editions (300,000 copies/year) together with recognition and a link on the-paper website.

We would also like sponsors to provide Mentors and story ideas if possible.

Please contact CEBLO through the Contact Us page if you would like to discuss sponsorship.

Project Development

The Paper is working hard to develop resources and materials available to young people and teachers.

Projects running alongside the publication of the newspaper include:

  • placements with newspapers and journalists so that teachers can develop teaching resources and units of work

  • the development of training materials for young people interested in journalism and the media

  • a multi media CD Rom about the project.

As these materials become available they will be circulated to all Bureaux and advertised through the website.
